"To the front, to the front, to the back..."

« on: September 04, 2007, 08:27:28 AM »

unfortunately, not many members are participating on the forums here.  why not?  if you - yes you - would like to chime in on what happened from the time you registered to become a member to the time you lost interest to even log in or check the forums out - what caused the change?  seriously!  inquiring minds want to know - whether it's good, bad or ugly.

you can also holla at TrueWisdom in her thread "Attention BH Board Members,"
((Only BH members are allowed to view links)
Register or Login), where she asked back in april "what the problem is?"  (i'm paraphrasing, of course.  Grin)

i know it's not asking too much for each member to post just one eensy-weensy post per week, right?  i know that's not asking too much and more posts than that would be more the ideal, but just one post per week per member would be a lot more than what's going on right now.  so the question on the table is - can you commit to posting at least ONE message per week here on the message forums?

From my perspective its the nature of message boards to have up and down seasons.  I've seen a decline in posting on several boards regardless of the content.  IMHO there are several factors to explain this, but for me I've been busy in a way that makes it harder to post regularly.

I do believe that as your writing and posting increases on your blog, it will prove to be an anchor.  Many stores in "strip malls" see increases in business when there is an  anchor store or source that generates traffic.  BH provides original content that is well thought out, insightful, and probing.  That's no small thing in the blogging world.  Many blog and comment on existing stories but do not have the skills to really write and run the story.

thanks hiei.  i know you're right that message boards have their up & down seasons but i'm thinking that since people can make comments on the blog, i may still phase out this message board in awhile unless participation picks up.

i'm sure that like you and me, folk are busy with life and administrating an inactive forum is just taking time away from other things i could be using that time for.   Wink  but we'll see what happens over the next few months.

i do thank those who took time out to participate in the forums for whatever time period they did so.   hello

 Cool

Well, perhaps you could combine the two in some way.  Or make the board feed off the blog. Sometimes blogs get bogged down or loaded with comments (some of which are just flames).  It may be the sort of thing where its better to have a community behind the blog so you can let the conversations go where they may as opposed to cluttering up space below your story with back and froths, etc.

Okay, I see that there are still people who check out the boards.  There's no reason to let it all go.

So sound off on the new threads with  a word or two.
