The 3-year economic program has not been operational for 40 consecutive years. It was discontinued when the Imam (Warith D. Mohammed) began instituting changes in the Nation (circa 1975). It was reinstituted in 1991 by Minister Farrakhan, so it is obvious that there was a gap.

Maybe the Three Year Economic plan should move more toward a savings plan as the Messenger may have wanted it to evolve. The Ministries seem like it would allow us to form institutions where we could learn to trust each other and invest in our ideas that we have developed by being educated by the Teaching.

If we are going to take a serious look at our economic development we have to be able to constructively critic our success to become fully productive in the future, can we all agree? So, we have to ask ourselves the tuff questions without becoming salty with the question or the questioner. Keep in mind that we all want Freedom, Justice, and Equality.

If we just read that part of the statment we could assume that this is a thread to put one program over another. All of th believers should have an agenda that is built to deliver progress to the whole Nation. It will take more then one person to come up with all the fine details that go into developing a Nation. Why should the Minister Teach us if we are not going to produce anything. Why should we be studying Lesson Number One?

The Messenger said:

I am asking that we (the whole nation) sacrifice for the next three years and when we get enough in our bank, we will put it to work to make more money. We do not mean to let it lie idly for three years; we could invest in anything to help the Nation improve our economic condition.

Heretofore our distrust in each other has kept us down. We have to trust each other as other nations trust each other in order to do something constructive for the original Black people of this country.

I am sure that the white people would have more respect for us after giving us a job and salary, if we would try saving some of that salary to help ourselves in that which we could do for ourselves. If they give us jobs and pay us living wages, we should do more for ourselves than we are doing with high wages and salary that we are receiving today. If the wages were rightly distributed, they would prevent our begging for food and shelter. Message to the Blackman

We are doing this today. We can do it better if we put our minds together and trust each other. We must be thinking of ways to trust eachother and work together on business. The National Headquaters should regulate what we do(Ministries). As the enemy regulates his business under it's nations authority.

True creation of a government maybe an agreement between two or more people.

Interesting question. The short answer for me is yes its still needed.  That said, in my view it was never intended as a "cure all" but a starting point.

Im think on this and post again.

I think there is a overriding question here and that is "what are the elements of building and sustaining an economy?"  There are many simplified versions and complex versions of what THEM taught. What remains  is  the issue of interplay between, acting on an understanding of what must be done and the desired result.

As this world is crashing there are some very good examples of what NOT to do, as well as excellent examples of what works in the best interest of the people.

Sometimes the simplest word could yield the greatest wisdom. It was the Hon. Elijah Muhammad that said we should have an economic system of our own. This economic system must some how be attached to the Nation. Infact, it helps the Nation to distribute wealth. What was started in the Ministries is key to the beginnings of a system if we are prepared to stop looking at the Nation as a church. If we discontinue the thinking that bake sales , and fish dinners are some how fulfilling an economic need. If we come into the understand that the wealth of one contributes to the wealth of a Nation, then we will see the simple words for what they where trying to do on a hydraulic scale.

What are the elements to sustain an economy is as simple as unity. Unity must have the glue that causes it to bind. We must be socialist among ourselves, in our our Nation first.. It starts with what we do as the NOI. There is no need to get a sanction from the Nationa headquarters. Because the order was given. We have yet to move on it. So, it is with the few like mines that it will be done. The most effective idea should be done ASAP. We need to give ourselves the infrastructure to make manfest our own "bailout"..

Doing for self is doing what is going to benefit yourself. Everyone can not arrange the system. But, we can all support the system, so long as it determines a benefit to self as it's bottomline.

What you wrote is key.  THLF has done much to explain his vision.  The truth is that in order to fulfill that vision, which is an extension of THEM and his mission, we must perfect our knowledge as it directly relates to nation building.  Each ministry represents an aspect of 'Nationhood'.  Each aspect has its its own science and there are individuals who incline to one or more of those aspects of nationhood.

Its interesting because we're taught that before the history is written in advance, the previous history would be read.  Now the wisdom couldn't be used, but there was an awareness about what took prior and being one of the 12 major, there was understanding for what produces the thought that proceeds the action.

That said, we know this world is in a tailspin.  However, how do we learn from what is taking place?  Its my personal belief that THEM knew the US would dive head first into a 'supply side' economy.  There are words he spoke that make me believe he understood that what we are seeing would be the "how" or process by which this world falls.

IMHO the biggest and quickest lesson that can be learned is what NOT to do.

We have had a 3 year economic plan for over 40 years now. Do you think we need to modify the plan? *PLEASE COMMENT ON YOUR ANSWER.

I do not believe that Master Fard Muhammad would be selling silks door –to door in Detroit in 2008. All indications are that Master Fard Muhammad intend for us to spread the message to our people here in America. Then, we are to spread all over the earth.  This question reminds me of another question in the Problem Book: A Lion in a cage walks back and forth, sixty feet per minute, seeking a way out of the cage. It took nearly four centuries to find the door. Now, with modern equipment, he is walking three thousand feet per minute; and he has three thousand by two thousand miles to go yet. How long will it take him to cover this territory of said, three thousand by two thousand miles, at the above walking rate?
We are to be quick moving, fast thinking, right on down to modern times. When MFM sold silks it was in the 1930s. Being a salesman in those days was, and in many ways today still is the best way to network with people. When you breakdown modern technology it fulfills a need the same way we have been having needs fulfilled for more the 400 centuries. Modern technology only does it quicker.  By doing things faster it allows us to move on to the next thing that leads to ultimate purpose. We can all agree that Master Fard Muhammad’s purpose was not to sell silks. We can say his purpose was to raise the dead. Even more, we could say it was to raise the did so they can build a Nation (New Kingdom).
To believe that He would be selling silks is to not understand the parable he gave Jesus: 14"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15To one he gave five talentsA of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. 17So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. 18But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.
19"After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. `Master,' he said, `you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.'
21"His master replied, `Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
22"The man with the two talents also came. `Master,' he said, `you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.'
23"His master replied, `Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
24"Then the man who had received the one talent came. `Master,' he said, `I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.'
26"His master replied, `You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
28" `Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. 29For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 30And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

My point here is once you have something good you have to expound on it. If Master Fard Muhammad continued to sell silks he would not be Allah in the person. Allah made the Universe to change. He has been consistently changing. We are talking about this subject in the commission book because we realize change… reorganization and restructure is what’s needed for us to move toward the Kingdom of God.
Now we have even better modern technology. The internet has brought our whole Nation closer. We should be building at a faster rate then 15 years ago when the internet was limited. Now we have the ability to build where the opportunity is best in our Nation. We can develop all forms of networks to mobilize in one part or every part of America. President Elect Obama should have shown us the true power of the internet.  I hope that we begin to use it, or support believers that seek to use it for our gain.

IMHO the biggest and quickest lesson that can be learned is what NOT to do.

What we can't do is lend ourselves toeconomic freedom.. Nor can we lend ourselves to real production. This means we must trust each other enougth to invest in each other. I'm not talking about investing in any plan. But lets invest in a well thoughtout plan.

The 3 year Econ plan was a good plan years ago.  The concept still is. However,, today any true economic plan among us must be inclusive to the benefit of the individual. If it is not then it will not be a savings plan, it would be charity.

More later..
